Braylon's first 24 hours
Date: 02/29/2008
Early in the morning on the 28th I started to feel a different type of contraction, so we decided today would be a good day for Chad to stay home with me just in case something happened...
At about 5pm our doula, Aislynn Campbell came out to the house to see how we were and what was going on. At that point I was still laughing joking around with them, and I knew I had to start focusing when I became interested in St. Joe's vs St. Louis bball, I know we are sports geeks, but come on!
Around 8pm we all decided it was time to make a move to the hospital, all was going great, feeling contractions about 2-3 minutes apart...
Got to the hospital, I was in smart @## mode already, just having fun. They didn't think I was in labor, so they sent me somewhere to be "checked" I was already at 6 cm...so to LDR room we go.
Throughout the process we are all laughing and joking around, big endorphin relief (good for pain control)...
Just before midnight, I started getting the "push" contractions and I was told to hold off until leap year! yeah, right. After months of saying we are going to have a leap year baby...WE DID! He was born just after midnight, drug free and pretty much painless...thanks to Chad and Aislynn for keeping me grounded and on top of my contractions. It was truely an amazing experience and a challenge someday I will take on again. It is a miracle what you get at the end of this race!

Week 1
Date: 03/06/2008
Braylon came home in under 24 hours, to be greeted by 2 dogs that were very excited to see us walk through the door at midnight. His first night was fairly uneventful, he actually slept pretty much through in between feedings. Chad went to the airport on Saturday to pick up our first visitor Grammie V at 6pm. Our house elf (from Harry Potter) has been here since, and what a help. I don't know what we will do when she leaves, our house is always clean, dishes done and put away and food on the table...wow, it is nice. Braylon loves to be held by Grandma in the sun, he was looking a little yellow but is getting a lot better. It seems now that we just wait for in between feedings for him to wake up and ask for more...what a life. He has been a very content baby, which we are all happy for.
Tomorrow he will be one week old, already! We are going to have some pictures taken so we will be sure to post them for you all to see.
Our friend Gina from Alaska is coming in tomorrow to visit for a week, we are excited to see her.

2 weeks already passes!
Date: 03/16/2008
Wow, Braylon was 2 weeks old on Friday. We are all alone for a few days, Grammie V left on Thursday morning and Gina left Friday. Since, he has already gone to his first wedding, Adam and Prudence's and did very well especially with everyone wanting to hold him. He did the best with Jerry and was content for an hour until he decided he was hungry. He is already changing, he has a lot more control of his head to lift it up and look at us, he knows our voices especially mommie's and he is making alot of eye contact with us, we can tell he is focusing farther away. But his basic life is the same, eat and sleep and oh yeah...poop. Grandma and Grandpa Peters come Wednesday and will be here for Easter, he can't wait to meet them.
1 month old...

Where did March go?? Tomorrow is April 1st and I can't believe it. I guess it is true when they say enjoy them while they are little because they grow up fast! Braylon is changing every day, I swear when he gets up each morning he has grown! He is holding his head up pretty much on his own, he will turn it from side to side to look at you and especially to mommy's voice. He is supporting his head when he is on his stomach and loves to do his army crawl. He is only a month old and has already gotten to meet the Governor of Texas Rick Perry...how many kids can say that??
He is getting busier by the moment and requires lots of mommy time. Busy life this little one leads! Our days are filled with playing with him on his tummy, in the swing, he loves to go for walks in his sling with the dogs, he has even been enjoying bath time...the rest of the time, you can guess...
All is great here.

6 weeks..

6 weeks old and 12 pounds!! I guess no one expected us to have a little baby! He is sure getting a personality, doing a lot of smiling and is starting to mimick my facial expressions, he is pretty much holding his head on his own. Most of his time is spent in his swing, he loves it. For all new parents, check out Happiest Baby on The Block, it really works! And no, Lindsey it is no a competition! We have been taking him out in the stroller every morning with the dogs, a happy family walk and then in the evening we take him in the Bjorn with the dogs as long as it is not too sunny. It has sure been beautiful down here, mid 80s with no humidity!
